Suncrest Middle School

Suncrest Middle School is a secondary academic school in Morgantown, West Virginia, and was the highest-rated middle school in the state of West Virginia in 2009.[1] Suncrest Flatts Jr. High, as it was called until 1998 with the inclusion of 9th grade into Morgantown High School, houses 6th- through 8th-grade classrooms. The school mascot is the seal and has the school colors of blue and white, which are donned upon many student-athletes that compete in Football, Boy's and Girl's Basketball, Cheerleading, Softball, Boy's and Girl's Cross Country, volleyball, and Boy's and Girl's Track. The principal is James Napolillo and the vice principal is Christy Lynch-Burkhart, the school-wide counselor is Dr. Lynch.

The school has constantly come first place in many math and science programs, including MATHCOUNTS, West Virginia exclusive Math Field Day, and Science Bowl. Lois Swineford is in charge of MATHCOUNTS and seventh and eighth grade math field day. Christina Maloney, Sarah Corder, and Cindy Pinn are in charge of Science Bowl. In 2013, Suncrest students tied for fifth place at National Science Bowl. Algebra I and Geometry I are taught to advanced students..
