Sumeet Raghvan (born April 22, 1971)[citation needed] is an actor in Marathi and Hindi TV industries and Hindi movies. He was born to a Tamil father and a Kannadiga mother.[citation needed] He is best known for his role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and has been acclaimed for his witty comic timing. He is presently anchoring the internet show Jay Hind! which is sarcastic take on day to day politics and other current affairs of India.

Film career

Sumeet started his career in 1983 with a serial called Faster Fene, which was popular, especially amongst kids. He continued with Marathi theatre for 15 years and worked with some great producers and productions, like Mohan Wagh’s Chandralekha, Prabhakar Panshikar’s Natya Sampada, Mohan Tondwalkar’s Kalavaibhav, Smt. Lata Narvekar’s Shri Chintamani, and so on.

He has acted in Marathi and Hindi TV serials like Hudd Kar Di, Shubh Mangal Savadhan, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Ghar Ki Baat Hai, Mahabharat and around 250 ad films for esteemed brands like Maruti, HDFC, Aquaguard, Dettol, BRU, ICICI, to name a few.

He has acted in films with Ajay Devgn and Kajol, U, Me Aur Hum, Nandita Das’ Firaaq, with Sharukh Khan My Name is Khan and just completed a film for Vipul Shah, written and directed by Barnali Shukla, starring Rahul Bose and Shefali Shah titled Kuch Luv Jaisa. Also working on a Marathi film 'Adhantari' directed by Gauri Karekar Sarwate, with Tanisha Mukherjee in the lead and produced by Akshay Kumar.

Sumeet has won Indian Telly Award in category of best anchor in a talk show for Jay Hind in 2012. He has learnt classical Hindustani music under the guidance of Shri Suresh Wadkar.

He is married to Chinmayee Surve.

He also sang a Marathi song from the movie Duniyadari.

Dubbing career

Sumeet is also a voice actor in the Indian dubbing industry. He has dubbed over Chris Tucker's role as Detective James Carter in the Hindi dub of the Hong-Kong-American Rush Hour 2.
