"Stronger Woman" is a song written by Marv Green and co-written and recorded by American recording artist Jewel. Her first release to country radio, it is also the first single from her album Perfectly Clear, which was produced by John Rich of the country duo Big & Rich and released on the Valory imprint of Big Machine Records. In May 2008, the song reached its peak at number 13 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
The single was released to iTunes exclusively on February 5, and officially sent to US radio on February 11, 2008. In late January, in its first week of unofficial release, Stronger Woman entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at number 50.[2]
Critical reception
The 9513 reviewer Jim Malec gave the song a thumbs up. He called the single "fresh and smart, and [it] boasts a confident and commanding vocal performance the likes of which we rarely hear in country music–or in any other kind of music, for that matter. This song has the potential to be very, very significant, because it does at least one thing very, very right–what’s huge about this record–is the vocal."[3]
Music video
The music video was filmed in Nashville, and on March 9, 2008 the music video made its debut on PerezHilton.com.[4]
