Strand Road Crossing is the current terminus of the passenger services that are operated by Ribble Steam Railway. A proposed station could be built here.

Current location

Currently, the crossing is three railway lines which are situated just before the railway crossing, that leads to Preston railway station. Services to the crossing, stop here, the engine runs round the train, and then couples back up and sets off back to Riversway.[1]

Next to the crossing and sidings, there is a large road, with some shops down one side. There is also the Portway terminus of Preston's park and ride service. walking trails, and other attractions are also nearby.

Future plans

Because the railway is quite a way from Preston city centre, it is not well advertised. The train services that Ribble run just terminate at the station, but proposals have been made for a station platform to be constructed.[2]
