Stowting lies between Canterbury, Folkestone, Ashford and Hythe. In 1947, a Douglas C-47A crashed on the hillside above the village, killing eight of the 16 people on board.

Stowting Cricket Club has been established since 1895, and play at the beautiful and scenic Dawes Field, which is near Stowting CofE Primary School. Stowting Cricket Club play in the Premier Division of the Invicta Cricket League and in Division 4 of the Kent Village Cricket League, and boasts one of the best cricket teas on the circuit.
