Stephen K. Weeks (born June 30, 1958 in Scarborough, Ontario) is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League.
Originally selected by the New York Rangers in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, Weeks played parts of three seasons with the Rangers before being traded to the Hartford Whalers. He also played for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Los Angeles Kings, and Ottawa Senators.
Weeks represented Canada in the 1985 World Championships, earning a 3-1 record and helping the team to a Silver Medal.
During the summer of 1992, he was signed by the Washington Capitals, but never played for the parent team, as he was signed specifically to leave him exposed for the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft. He was later traded to the Ottawa Senators. Weeks retired after being a member of the Senators' roster during their inaugural season.
Weeks spent eight seasons with the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes organization from 1993-2001 as a coach and scout. After retiring as a player, he joined the Whalers in 1993 as a goaltending consultant and served as an assistant coach during the 1996-97 season. He was named as the team’s goaltending coach/pro scout when the team relocated to North Carolina for the 1997-98 season. He was later the goaltending coach for the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2008-09 season.
On 12 August, 2013, the Chicago Blackhawks announced the hiring of Weeks as their Goaltending Coach.[1]
Personal life
Weeks currently has three children living in Florida. He has two brothers and one sister, all living in Canada.
