Steve Christopher Moses (born September 9, 1989) is an American ice hockey player who currently plays with SM-liiga team Jokerit. Quickness, scoring ability and shooting are considered to be the strongest sides of his gameplay but his small size is a disadvantage in one-on-one situations.
Career
In 2004-08 Moses played with Boston Junior Bruins in Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) and Empire Junior Hockey League (EmJHL). In 2004-05 he led the EJHL penalty minute charts with 170 minutes.
Even though in 2006 Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) drafted Moses in the 12th round (as the 209th player), he didn't move to CHL. Instead, Moses moved to the University of New Hampshire's team New Hampshire Wildcats where he played from 2008 to 2012.
In 2010 New Hampshire Wildcats became regular season champions in Hockey East. Moses was Wildcats' third best scorer in NCAA's regular season 2010-11, scoring 14 goals altogether. After this he was chosen to Hockey East's All-Academic team.[1]
On his final Wildcats season 2011-12, Moses was the best goal-scorer with 22 goals. He was also the third best scorer of the Hockey East, sharing his position with Barry Almeida of the Boston University Terriers. Being the alternate captain of the Wildcats, Moses was the best point-scorer of his team with 35 points (22+13), along with Nick Sorkin (9+26). After the season Moses was awarded with Wildcats' Roger A. Leclerc Trophy (MVP of the team).[2] In March 2012 he was in the try-out with AHL team Connecticut Whale, playing eight regular season and one playoff game scoring two goals.[3][4]
On March 14, 2012 Jokerit announced a one-year-deal with Moses.[5] Season 2012-13 has so far been successful for him: he managed to do a hat trick on December 19, 2012 against Espoo Blues. Jokerit won the game 4-0.
In December 2012 Moses announced a two-year extension with Jokerit.[6]
