Bieda was raised in Warren, Michigan, and attended Cousino High School.[1] He received a B.A. in Public Affairs from Wayne State University, and later received a Master of Public Administration and an M.A. in Tax Law.[2] He worked as Director of Labor Relations in the City of Warren, and as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives. Bieda also designed the reverse of the United States Olympic Half Dollar issued in 1992, earning him the distinction of being the only living Michigander to design a coin for the United States Mint.[1]
