Stephen Crowe is an English composer of operas and experimental music. He was born in Bolton, but grew up in Nottingham. Crowe studied Fine Art at John Moores University, Liverpool, and Composition at Goldsmiths College, University of London. His music incorporates standard scores, graphic notation, electronic music, indeterminacy, controlled improvisation and "conceptual music".

His work has been performed widely in Europe and America. Notable London performances have been at Tate Britain, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Courtauld Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, The Vortex, King's Head Theatre, Brunel University and Riverside Studios.

In 2013 he co-founded the free-improv group 'Ynd' with poet Tom Jackson and viola player Benedict Taylor. The trio perform on a main core of clarinet, guitar, viola, percussion and electronics.

In 2013 he formed 'StreisBAND' a hardcore/metal Barbra Streisand covers band, consisting only of drums and vocals. He is the singer.

Having his work performed frequently in galleries and concert halls, Crowe's output is referred to as both art and music in publications including This is Tomorrow,[1] What's On Stage[2] and Opera Magazine.[3] The Independent newspaper described his work as "The future of new opera".[4]
