Stephen Barton (born September 17, 1982 in Preston, England) is a British film composer who has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 2001. Barton began his career at age 19 as a composer and arranger under Hollywood film composer Harry Gregson-Williams at Gregson-Williams' studio, Wavecrest Music, where he wrote additional music for Dreamworks' Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.

Barton has since composed music for dozens of film, television, and video games.

Film and Television

Barton's film projects include Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, for which he was the composer and conductor. Moviescoremedia reviews the work,

Barton has also composed music for many other films including the Tim Allen film, The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, as well as scoring James Cameron's Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away for Paramount Pictures. Other film credits include Jennifer's Body, Sir Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven, Tony Scott's Deja Vu and Man on Fire, Ben Affleck's Gone, Baby, Gone. He worked extensively on both the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Shrek film franchises.

His musical composition and production work also includes writing the music for MTV's animated television program, Disco Destroyer with composer-colleague Mick Murphy. Producer was Titmouse Productions.

Video Games

Barton was selected to compose the score for Titanfall, a widely anticipated animated game, which was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios. Titanfall will be released in Spring, 2014.
Composer Stephen Barton...will be responsible for creating the music score for Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall, due out this Spring...Barton will complete his part of the score at Abbey Road Studios utiliizing a large orchestra to create his arrangements.[2]

He has scored other games for its creators in the past including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. [3] Barton also was composed the score for How to Train Your Dragon.

Other Projects

Barton also closely collaborates with Sir Anthony Hopkins since producing the soundtrack for the film Slipstream in 2006. He has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (UK), Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and the Maggiore Musica di Firenze.

His music studio, Afterlight, where he composes music for films, videogames, and TV shows, is located in Los Angeles. Barton is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
