Biography
Stephanie was born to a Japanese mother, and an Armenian father, in Los Angeles, California. When she was 13 years old, Stephanie sent an audio demo tape of her singing to various Japanese music productions, and later received a response from one, her current Japanese music producer Joe Rinoie, who was impressed with her singing and subsequently helped recommend her and also managing her career. Soon after, upon turning 14 the next year, she moved from California, where she was residing at the time, to Tokyo in order to further her singing career. She soon signed onto Sony Music Japan, debuting with her first single "Kimi ga Iru Kagiri" on the company's SME Records sublabel, which was featured as the first ending theme to Sony's anime series Kiss Dum, and was released on May 30, 2007. Her identity, prior to her debut, was kept secret.
Her second single, "because of you", was released on August 29, 2007, and replaced "Kimi ga Iru Kagiri" as Kiss Dum's second ending theme. On November 30, 2007, she was among the winners of the "Best Artist Award" at the prestigious 49th Japan Record Awards.[1][2] In early 2008, she performed the second ending theme to the Sunrise anime TV series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, titled "Friends", replacing The Back Horn's "Wana". Another song, "Changin", was also featured as the last ending theme to D.Gray-man. Her first album, eponymously titled Stephanie, was also released on March 5, 2008.
She debuted as an actress in the 2009 film Pride, based on Yukari Ichijo's shōjo manga and portraying the protagonist and lead character Shio Asami.[3] She also performed the film's theme song, "Pride ~A Part of Me~ feat. SRM", which was released on January 14, 2009.
Stephanie is a DJ in Reds Wave scheduled every Friday 8:00 p.m. (Japan Time). [4] [5]
