Star FM is an Australian radio network, consisting of stations in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

The brand was created in 1999 by DMG Radio Australia. In 2004 Macquarie Regional RadioWorks (now Southern Cross Austereo) bought all the stations except Star 104.5FM on the New South Wales Central Coast which is still owned by DMG Radio Australia. Southern Cross Austereo have arrangements with DMG for the use of the Star FM and other brands.

Programming

The network's stations are aimed at the under 35's section of the market, playing Top 40 and popular music. For most stations, the only local program heard on these stations is the breakfast programme, all other programming is networked from the Gold Coast Media Center and Albury, with some programming coming from the Southern Cross Austereo's metropolitan stations FOX FM in Melbourne and 2DAY FM in Sydney.

National News is networked from Albury, Monday to Friday and from the Gold Coast, Saturdays and Sundays.

In 2007, Star FM changed its major positioning statement from "Todays Best Music" to "Your HIT Music Station". The positioning statement was changed again in June 2011 to "Your #1 HIT Music Station" and following the Southern Cross Media/Austereo merger has become "Fresh & First" in 2013.
