Spittal is a village and community that lies approximately halfway between Haverfordwest and Fishguard, near the village of Wolf's Castle in the county of Pembrokeshire in west Wales. Its name is a corruption of the word Hospital, which is also the root of such names as Spitalfields, London, Spital, Merseyside, Spital-in-the-Street, Lincolnshire, etc: the village possessed a hospitium (place of accommodation for pilgrims) belonging to the Cathedral of St David's.[1] No trace of this remains.

The population of the community in 2001 was 501. In 2004 a brand new primary school was built in the village to educate approximately 150 pupils, some of whom live outside the village itself.[2] Other amenities include a community hall, a village green and a graveyard attached to the local church, St. Mary's. There is a pub in the village called the Pump on the Green. There was formerly a post office in the village, which closed on 8 January 2009.

Scolton Manor is a former Victorian country house converted into a museum of Pembrokeshire life. It is a grade II* building. [3]
