Spit is the debut album by Kittie, a Canadian all-female heavy metal band from London, Ontario. It was released in 1999 on Artemis Records and has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

Though bassist Talena Atfield is pictured with the band on the album cover, Tanya Candler actually performed bass on Spit. The initial pressing on the album featured an alternate recording of the song "Paperdoll". This version is included on the Paperdoll EP.

Background

Lead singer and guitarist Morgan Lander noted that the songs were "all written when we were 14 years old." She noted that Kittie was largely influenced by alternative music, listing "bands like Nirvana, Silverchair and Alice in Chains" as major influences. The band wrote the music first to serve as a "backdrop" to Morgan's vocals.[4]
