Sparta B.V.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sparta B.V. is a Dutch bicycle manufacturer based in Apeldoorn that also produced motorcycles and scooters. It is the largest electrical bike maker in Europe.
The company was formed in September 1917 as Verbeek & Schakel. The Sparta brand name was bought approximately one month later from a competitor.
In 1931, Sparta released its first moped, which was equipped with a 78 cc engine.
World War II halted production, and afterwards, the company focussed on producing mopeds, which aren't made by the company anymore.
