Southern Vietnam is one of the three regions within Vietnam (the other two regions are Northern Vietnam and Central Vietnam).
The largest city in the South is Ho Chi Minh City, the nation's largest city, other major cities include Cần Thơ, Biên Hòa.
Southern Vietnam includes the following subregions:
- Southeast (Đông Nam) include 6 provinces: Bình Phước, Tây Ninh, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu and Saigon
- Mekong Delta (Đồng bằng Sông Mê Kông) include 13 provinces: Long An, Đồng Tháp, Tiền Giang, An Giang, Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, Trà Vinh, Hậu Giang, Kiên Giang, Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau, Cần Thơ.
