Southern Natural Gas Company, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, is a natural gas pipeline company that was founded in 1928 and is currently a division of El Paso Corporation. The company was a division of Sonat Inc. until 1999 when Sonat and El Paso merged. The Company operates the Southern Natural Pipeline and currently has approximately 8,000 miles of pipeline. The company was located in the Regions Center, previously the AmSouth-Sonat Tower, from 1972 until 2007 when it relocated its headquarters to the Colonial Brookwood Center.
