South Sudan Oyee! |
"South Sudan Oyee!" is the national anthem of South Sudan. The anthem was selected by the South Sudan National Anthem Committee [citation needed] of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement[2] following the launch of a competition to find a national anthem in August 2010. This preceded the independence referendum in January 2011 that led to South Sudan becoming a sovereign state on 9 July 2011.[3] "Oyee!" is translated as "Hooray!"[1]

"Land of Cush"[citation needed]
- 1
- Oh God!
- We praise and glorify you,
- For your grace upon Cush.
- The land of great warriors,
- And origin of world's civilizations.
- 2
- Oh Cush!
- Arise and shine, raise your flag with the guiding star,
- And sings songs of freedom with joy.
- For peace, liberty and justice
- Shall forever more reign.
- So Lord!
- Bless South Sudan!
- 3
- Oh black warriors
- Let us stand up in silence and respect.
- Saluting millions of martyrs whose blood
- Cemented our national foundation
- We vow to protect our nation.
- 4
- Oh Eden!
- Land of milk and honey and hardworking people
- Uphold us united in peace and harmony
- The Nile, valleys, forests and mountains
- Shall be our sources of our joy and pride!
- So Lord!
- Bless South Sudan!
