Sophia Sampaio Abrahão (born May 22, 1991) is a Brazilian singer and actress who plays the lead role in the Rede Record's telenovela Rebelde and sings with Chay Suede, Micael Borges, Melanie Fronckowiak, Lua Blanco and Arthur Aguiar in a band called Rebeldes.

Biography

Born in São Paulo,[1] Sophia Abrahão started working as a model when she was 14 years-old,[2] after she was discovered by a scout while walking with her mother, Branca Abrahão.[3] She spent five months in China when she was 15 years-old, also traveling to Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore during her modeling career.[2] After her retirement as a model, she studied theater at a theatrical company named Globe, and because of that, obtained a chance to make a test to work in Rede Globo's Malhação telenovela, in which she was cast as Felipa.[4]

Career

She started her acting career in 2007, playing the role of Felipa in Rede Globo's telenovela Malhação,[5] and leaving the telenovela in 2009. Sophia Abrahão guest starred in Multishow's television series Bicicleta e Melancia in 2010, playing the role of Gabi. She plays the lead role in Rede Record's telenovela Rebelde, which is a Brazilian adaptation of the Mexican telenovela of the same name and the original version is the Argentine soap opera Rebelde Way.[6] Sophia Abrahão played Alice Albuquerque, who is the equivalent character as Anahí's Mia Colucci in the Mexican telenovela.[7]

She joined the cast of the 2013 Rede Globo telenovela Amor à Vida[8] as Natasha.[9] Sophia Abrahão played one of the lead roles, Diana, in the 2014 film Confissões de Adolescente.[10]
