Sonik Clique

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sonik Clique (aka Sonic or Sonik) is a Finnish demogroup with members from Sweden, Denmark, UK and Greece.[1] The group was founded under its original name Sonic in October 1990 by Stargazer and Tomy, and was active during the mid-1990s but still releases productions occasionally. The group members nowadays work mostly on advertising, games and IT.

Releases

Sonik Clique is mostly remembered for their chip music disk collection Fish & Chips, which featured some well-known tracks,[2] and the success in the Amiga intro competition at Assembly in 1995 and 1996.[3] With the exception of the first releases (1990–1992) almost all Sonik Clique productions featured a strong art direction with audio/visual synchronization similar to that of an MTV music video, combined with a degree of typographic design elements commonly used in advertising.[4] While most of the groups releases were for the Amiga, the group also had an active PC section, and in more recent years a transition to new media platforms, like Java and mobile/handheld.[5] Sonik Clique was also featured in the book Demoscene: the Art of Real-Time.[6]
