Somerville Island

Somerville Island (65°22′S 64°19′W / 65.367°S 64.317°WCoordinates: 65°22′S 64°19′W / 65.367°S 64.317°W) is a small island 4 nautical miles (7 km) southwest of Berthelot Islands and 2.5 nautical miles (4.6 km) northwest of Darboux Island, in the Wilhelm Archipelago. Discovered by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1908–1910, under Charcot, and named by him for Crichton Somerville, a resident of Oslo, Norway, who selected and supervised the making of much of the polar clothing and equipment used by the expedition.
