Solar astronomy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Solar astronomy is stellar astronomy of the Sun.
A major branch of Solar astronomy is Solar physics.
Sun size relative to its distance from Proxima Centauri
The diameter of the Sun is about 1,390,000 km, and its nearest neighboring star, Proxima Centauri, is 4.22 light years (3.99 x 1013 km) away. Therefore, the ratio of distance to diameter is 28,700,000 : 1, so if the Sun were one centimeter in diameter, Proxima Centauri would be 287 km away.[1]
