The Solør Line (Norwegian: Solørbanen) is a railway between Kongsvinger and Elverum in Hedmark, Norway. The 91 km single track railway is used exclusively for freight trains, primarily transporting lumber, though it was until 1994 used for passenger traffic.[1] The line is standard gauge but not electrified, and owned by the Norwegian National Rail Administration. At Elverum the line connects to the Røros Line and at Kongsvinger to the Kongsvinger Line.

History

The railway was opened on 4 December 1910, as an expansion of the railway between Kongsvinger and Flisa that opened in 1893. The Trondheim express trains on the Røros Line went via the Solør Line in the periods 1943–1946 and 1986–1989, while the night train also operated in the period 1986–1991.
