The company's website provides reviews, comparisons and information for organizations researching new software applications.[1] Software Advice consults with software buyers via a free telephone needs analysis and recommends software vendors to buyers. The company acts as a matchmaker between software buyers and sellers, generating sales opportunities for software vendors on a pay-per-introduction basis. Located in Austin, Texas, Software Advice has a team of ~100 full-time employees in Austin and 9 software developers in Cordoba, Argentina.[2]

History

Software Advice was founded in 2005 by CEO Don Fornes in San Francisco, California.[3] The company was originally named RiverGuide, focusing only on the construction software market. In 2006, the company relocated to Big Sky, Montana, where COO Austin Merritt joined and became a co-owner. In 2007, the company expanded into additional industry verticals, including retail and medical. Director of Marketing Houston Neal and CTO Guillaume Boissiere were recruited. For the last quarter of 2007, the company operated out of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The company was rebranded as Software Advice in 2007, and made a permanent move to Austin, Texas in 2009.[4]
