The 295 snake species found in Colombia represent 9 families. [1]

The largest snake ever known, Titanoboa, was discovered as a fossil in northeastern Colombia.

Alethinophidia (Advanced Snakes)

The infraorder Alethinophidia are also known as advanced snakes. This group includes all snakes except blind snakes. In Colombia this group is represented by 6 families.
