Smyrna, Texas

Smyrna is an unincorporated community in Cass County, Texas, United States, about 6 miles (9.7 km) from Atlanta on Highway 77. Smyrna has a population of 215.

History

Smurna was established in 1880. Its settlers named the town Smurna after a Turkish church. In 1882 Smurna Baptist Church was established. By 1907, a cemetery was established. Smurna Baptist Church received a historical marker in 1982. The church still exists to this day and it even has a community center.[1]
