Student Nations of
Uppsala University

Smålands nation is one of the thirteen student nations (a kind of student society) at Uppsala university in Sweden.

Historically there have been 2 Smålands nations in Uppsala, the first of which was founded in 1645 and represented the whole of the province of Småland. However, this nation was short-lived and in 1663 it split into two: Wexio nation representing western Småland and Kalmar nation representing eastern Småland and the island of Öland.

The current Smålands nation was formed from the Wexio nation of this split; in 1667, following a disagreement with Kalmar nation it renamed itself to Smålands.

The nation currently has around 1000 members.
