Slush Puppie
Slush Puppie is a slush beverage marketed by Slush Puppie that started in 1974, which is a division of The ICEE Company, and through its Slush Puppie Distributors in the U.S. Slush Puppie was acquired by ICEE on May 30, 2006. A Slush Puppie has two major components; the base and the flavoring. The base is made from a special syrup that is mixed with water and then frozen. This creates a mixture resulting in pellets of ice in a sweet liquid. The taste is simply that of the flavored syrup.
Origin
The original owners, Will Radcliff and his sister Phyllis, came up with the name while sitting on their front porch in Cincinnati, Ohio. The unique spelling of "puppie" was added to bring attention to both the name and the product. The business started from a home address in Cincinnati and progressed to a single door small warehouse, to a manufacturing plant/warehouse, to a candy & tobacco distributor, to finally a showplace building that overlooks the city of Cincinnati. The business has been under the ownership of Will Radcliff, Cadbury Schweppes, and now the ICEE Company.[1]
