Slammiversary
Slammiversary is the name given to professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) events held by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in the month of June. It is considered one of TNA's flagship PPV events along with Lockdown and Bound for Glory (the biggest show of the year) The name of the show is a reference to the anniversary of the first TNA event, held June 19, 2002. History
One of the most popular matches in TNA, The King of the Mountain match has made Slammiversary one of the most successful pay-per-views in TNA. Major aspects of Slammiversary
King of the Mountain
Slammiversary was the home of the King of the Mountain match, a five-man reverse ladder match for TNA's World Heavyweight Championship (TNA or NWA). The match debuted on the June 2, 2004, edition of TNA's weekly Pay-Per-View in Nashville, Tennessee, and became featured at Slammiversary after that. Since the 2010 edition of Slammiversary, the King of the Mountain Match has not been featured on the card at all, and the championship has instead been defended in regular singles matches.
Authority changes
On the pre-show to Slammiversary 2005, Larry Zbyszko took the mic and announced that former TNA Director of Authority Dusty Rhodes had buckled under the pressure and would be resigning, meaning that Zbyszko would be taking over as interim authority as per his role as a member of the NWA Championship Committee.
In 2006, a much longer developed storyline came to a climax as TNA Management finally announced its long-awaited "new face" with the debut of Jim Cornette at Slammiversary 2006.
