SkyGreece Airlines is a Greek airline founded in Athens, Greece. The company is headquartered in Athens, with a planned main base at Athens International Airport.

History

Founding

SkyGreece Airlines was founded in Athens, Greece in October 2012, by a team of Greek-Canadian entrepreneurs who have extensive backgrounds in aviation and tourism.[1][2] The company is a joint stock company,[citation needed] incorporated and headquartered in Athens, with offices also set up in New York City, Toronto, and Montreal (Laval).[3]

The company’s main mission is to connect Greek diaspora to their homeland by offering non-stop flights between Greece and North America, with eventual plans to also offer flights to South Africa as well.[1][3] Additionally, the airline's aim is to try to use 100% authentic Greek cabin crew and pilots.[1] Since then, there was no other update or announcement made by the airline.

SkyGreece Airlines is expected to commence its inaugural flights in the summer of 2014, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.[4] The first aircraft acquired in June 2013 is a former Martinair jetliner.[5][6]

Destinations

SkyGreece Airlines plans to launch scheduled flights to Montreal, Toronto, and New York at the beginning in the Summer of 2014. Flights to Chicago and South Africa are planned at a later date.[1][7]
