PGE Skra Bełchatów SSAPolish professional volleyball team, based in Bełchatów, playing in Polish Volleyball League (Polska Liga Siatkówki - PLS). It is one of the most successful clubs in Poland.

Team history

Robotniczy Klub Sportowy (Workers Sports Club) "Skra" was founded in 1930 in Bełchatów. First, it was football club. After war, in 1957, a volleyball section was created. In 1977 footbal section was separated from the club and incorporated to KWB Bełchatów. In 1991 Bełchatów Power Station became the sponsor of the club, and the club changed its name to Energetyczny Klub Sportowy (Energetic Sports Club) "Skra". In 1994, club advanced to II league, and in 1997 to I league "B" series. In 1999 it was promoted to series "A", but after a year it fell out to series "B" again. In 2001 it was promoted to PlusLiga. In 2001/2002 season the team achieved bronze medal in Polish Men Volleyball Championship, defeating Jastrzębski Węgiel after three matches. In 2002/2003 "Skra" achieved 6th place in the league, and were defeated by Lokomotiv Yekaterinburg in second round of CEV Cup. In 2003/2004 season "Skra" achieved 4th place in the league after defeat in five matches of rivalization for the bronze medal with AZS Częstochowa and the team was defeated in the final match of the Cup of Poland by KP Polska Energia Sosnowiec. In 2004/2005 season the team achieved Championship and the Cup of Poland for the first time. They also were Champions in 2005/2006, 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2009/2010 and 2010/2011. From 2006 to 2009 Bełchatów team played in CEV Champions League and were out of group all these times. In November 2009 "Skra" achieved silver in 2009 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship.
