Sjernarøy

Sjernarøy is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway.
Sjernarøy was separated from Nedstrand January 1, 1868. At that point Sjernarøy had 922 inhabitants.
On January 1, 1965 Sjernarøy joined Fisterøyene (The Fister islands) in Fister, a part of Jelsa, and Finnøy municipality to form the new municipality known as Finnøy. At that time Sjernarøy had 819 inhabitants.
Sjernarøy consist of several small and larger islands:
Inhabited: Kyrkjøy, Bjergøy, Eriksholmen, Tjul, Nord-Hidle, Aubø, Helgøy and Nord-Talgje. Uninhabited: Hestholmen, Finnborg, Lundarøynå, Norheimsøynå, Norheimslamholmen, Staup, fiskholmane ...
