Simone Farelli (born 19 February 1983) is an Italian footballer who plays for Italian Serie A club A.C. Siena.

Biography

Born in Rome, in Italy, Farelli began his career at hometown young club Fogaccia where he played for many years before being engaged by Lazio for one season. Then he moved to Atletico 2000, where he spent the next two years, before transferring to Siena. In 2001 he made his debut in 2001–02 Serie D with the team Astrea. In mid-2002 he signed for Siena team ranked in that period in Serie B . In 2003 he followed the team that passed to the main league (Serie A). In mid-2004 he left for Serie C2 club Nocerina, but in January 2005 returned to the city of Siena.

Farelli returned to Italian fourth level in 2005–06 season, for Vittoria. Then he left for Serie C1 club Ancona[1] and then Lanciano. In February 2007 he received a call-up to Italy Universiade team for a training match.[2] In that match he was a substitute.[3]

Farelli settled in Crotone in 2008–09 season. The team won the first ever promotion playoffs of the third division since renamed to Lega Pro Prima Divisione. He was the backup keeper of Emanuele Concetti in his two-year stay. In 2010–11 Serie B, Crotone signed Vid Belec and Giacomo Bindi, and Farelli was allowed to leave for Siena in 1+1 deal.[4] (which Siena newly relegated from Serie A) He was third keeper, behind Ferdinando Coppola (Željko Brkić in 2011–12 season) and Gianluca Pegolo. Siena won promotion at the end of 2010–11 Serie B.
