Sikarwar clan of rajput are found around Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Bihar. Sikarwars were the founders of Sikrigarh (The name was changed to 'Fatehpur Sikri') by Akbar and later ruled Agra under the king Badal Singh Sikarwar.
History
Sikarwars are a clan of Rajputs found in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh mainly around Agra. Mighty Agra Fort too was built by their ancestors. The clan name Sikarwar is derived from Sikar District of Rajasthan. They ruled over Sikar for a number of generations. Sikarwars are cousins of Badgujar (gurjar pratihara) Rajputs / Suryavanshi Kshatriyas emerged from present day Lahore (Lawasthli or Lav Kot) as per Dham Dev Pradeepika. Sikarwars established Vijaipur Sikri (near present day Agra) in 823 AD, during the time of Rana Bhatribhat the Emperor of Chitor. Babur changed its name to 'Fatehpur Sikri' after the 'Battle of Kanhua' in 1527 AD. It was the Sikarwar Cavalry that had attacked Babur's ‘Advance Column’ that was moving from Sikri village towards Kanhua. (Refer to Baburnama-P 243) The attack was led by Rao Dham Dev Sikarwar surprised the Mughals. He was the Ruler of Sikri and a friend of Rana Sanga. It was launched from cover offered by the Sikri Ridge. The cavalry seems to have come out of the Tehri Gate of Sikri Fort. The gate opens towards Kanhua. It demoralized the Mughals so much that they suffered a serious loss of morale for over a fortnight. (Col D. R. Singh Sikarwar - MOB 9415021582)
Sikarwars are the co-lineage progeny of Emperor Kanak Sen of V.S 191 vintage. (For Kanak Sen kindly refer to Colonel Tod ‘Annals & the Antiquities of Rajasthan’). The Guhilots of Mewar, Bargujars, Jhalas, Vallas, Kachwahas, Lewa Patils and Rastrakutas of Maharashtra form part of this lineage. They had ruled North Western India from their capital ‘Vallabhi and Chitor’ since 2nd Century AD. They also built 'Ajargarhi' which is presently called Agra Fort. The medieval town of Vijaipur Sikri, (now Fatehpur Sikri) was built by them. (Col D. R. Singh Sikarwar - MOB 9415021582) and also called Sakarwar in Bhojpuri. The Sikarwars migrated from Sikri to save their religion and their families from Babur's atrocities and forced conversions. The town of Vijaipur Sikri was renamed Fatehpur Sikri by none other than Babur in AD 1527.
Night Battle of Sikri
Rao Dham Dev Sikarwar Ruler of Vijaypur Sikri fort (now Fatehpur Sikri) in 1527 AD assisted Rana Sanga with his troops forming the front line of Rajput confederates army for Battle of Kanhua, (Refer to Baburnama-P 243) though suffered major depletion of troops in war however at night when Mughal army entered Sikri Fort Sikarwar and other Rajput troops fought the Mughal army. The attack was led by Rao Dham Dev Sikarwar. It resulted in great loss of life to the Mughals. After Battle of Kanhua the Sikarwars evacuated Rana Sanga on camel since he was badly wounded. They left Vijaypur Sikri towards the Aravali Hills towards Rajasthan. The Deity Mata Kamakhya too was loaded on camel. Sanga was treated for his wounds. Later Rao Dham Dev took permission to go towards Gauhati to visit Kamakhaya Temple. When the calcavade reached eastern (UP)near Gahmar the Idol of Mata Kamakhaya fell on ground while being down loaded. The Idol stood straight on ground. The accompanying Gangeshwer Upadhaya pronounced that Mata Kamakhaya does not desire to move ahead from the place it had fallen. A beautiful temple was constructed there and the place became famous as Kamakhaya Dham.
Migration from Sikrigarh
After Battle of Kanhua loss Sikarwar rajput despersed from Vijaypur Sikri (Agra) to various other places like grid region in MP & Rajasthan, eastern awadh (UP & Bihar), Mithila (east bihar). They created new kingdoms at GAHMAR in Gadhipur (presently Ghazipur) district of Uttar Pradesh and Pahargarh near Morena (Madhya Pradesh) & Kelwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan state.
Pahargarh (Madhya Pradesh)
The grand old fort of Pahargarh built by Rao Dalpat Singh Sikarwar (Dalkubaba) still stands in present day Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. Pahargarh fort was capital of sikarwar pricipalities of morena & sabalgarh region. Last ruler of the pahargarh fort / area was Rao Pancham Singh Sikarwar (Pahargarh) till 1957, he contributed his administrative accumen in developing pahargarh & gwalior area from uneven land basin into agricultural farming region as well as provided military support to Ruler of Gwalior. Then Maratha ruler of Gwalior Shri Jiwaji Rao Scindia appointed him as General of one army flank. Government of Madhya Pradesh in respect & memory of Rao Pancham Singh Sikarwar's have named a Gwalior Municipal Corporation road as Pancham Singh Pahargarh Marg.
Kelwara (near Udaipur, Rajasthan)
Certain parts of Rajasthan especially the Pahara Region (Kelwara) in Udaipur District still has some Sikarwar population. The area was allocated as a Jagir to 'Jattan Rao Sikarwar' the Army Commander of Rana Hamir. The Sikarwars had helped Rana Hamir regain Chitor after Alaudin Khilji had occupied it in A.D 1303.
Azamgarh and Firozabad District
There are 12 villages of Sikarwar in Azamgarh (UP). These villages are known as Baraho. On occasions like marriages/death ceremonies etc. the residents of these villages (or sometimes only their representatives), come together. The villages are: Belna dih, Mohabbatpur, Baitholi, Sammopur, Sarai Sadi, Uncha Gaon, Manikadih, Khemaupur, Jeevadhi Pur, Jairampur, Chandeshwar and Birodhpur. Though called Baraho they number has increased over the years. Azamdarh Lalganj Tehsil Villages -Chakidih, Ramgarh, Acchiya and Mirawa. (Col D. R. Singh Sikarwar - MOB 9415021582)
Village-Jajau, Ayela, Nagla Kamal,Nagla paay, Danagsa, Hotiya Nagla, Garhi Chandra Bhan Gram Panchayat and Ruriya-Swarooppur Nayay Panchayat villages.
- Bihar State - Sikarwar also spread to Bihar, especially in the Bhojpur (Ara), and Hazari Bag (Jharkhand), Palamu(Mubarakpur Village), Karui, Pansa, Mohamadganj, Lamari, Gurha, Navgarha, Badiha, Rampur, Gaya, Rohtas, Kudra (Jahanabad-village-Derwan).
Bihar Sikarwars are also found in Banka District of Bihar - Majhgaon, Kaithatikar, Bathaniya, Chilkaur and Kathel.Late Sri Mani Prasad Singh(Bathaniya Village) was a famous person among all rajputs in Bihar & Jharkhand, similarly Late sri Diwakar singh(Police Inspector in Jharkhand ) lost his life while he was in naxal operation in saranda jungle.(Brajesh Sikarwar,Asstt. Commandant). Sita Kunwar & Gita Kunwar from Fatehpur Sikri dirctly came to Chilkaur in 14 the century. Sita Kunwar has 7 sons and 7 villages came into existence.

- Firozabad District (UP) :- ( Formally Mainpuri District ) - Sikarwar Rajput found in Nyay-Panchayat - Ruriya-Swarooppur called Panch-Gaon Sikarwari, villages - as Ruriya, Swarooppur, Nagla-Dani, Papri, Nagla-Peeriya.( Kunwar M.P.Singh Sikarwar).
There are 13 villages around Bankgarh District. These are Bank, Baruna, Akorhi, Gamharia, Ramchandipur (Dhab), Chapra, Govardhanpur Jamuhar, Patanwa Kala, Mani (Bikramganj), Kanchanpur, Manikpur, Basti, Bhushula, Bhadkuiyan. The region is known as Chaudah Gaoan (14 villages).
Govardhanpur is the most important village in Bihar.
Rohtas District (Bihar)
Sikarwars also resides in Dehri-on-Sone, there are around 22 villages including Bharkuria,Baank gadh, Govardhanpur, and Bhusaula. In Bharkuria were Kunwar Sitaram Singh came since then 8th Generations grown. (Avinash Singh)

Bhind (Madhya Pradesh) Sikarwar Villages
Villages in Bhind are Ajita, Khairoli, Sada, and Takpura. These villages are inhibited by progeny of Ajit Singh Sikarwar late 15th Century. Chander Pal, Kanh Pal, and Uday Psl all Sikarwars established Ishunrigarh. Chander Pal established the Chanderwar Fort.
