Sikandrabad is a city and a municipal board in Bulandshahr district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Sikandrabad is dominated by Yadavs,[1][2][3] Smt. Bimla Singh Solanki a Rajput of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is current MLA of Sikandrabad she defeated Jitendra Yadav of congress in 2012 elections.[4][5]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[6] Sikandrabad had a population of 69,902. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sikandrabad has an average literacy rate of 50%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 58%, and female literacy is 49%. In Sikandrabad, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Sikandrabad is situated both side on G.T. road. It is about 50 km away from the national capital, Delhi.

The city of sikandrabad is located in district Buland Shahr of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. It is situated on both side of GT road about 50 km south side of national capital Delhi. The district head quarter Buland Shahr is about 18 km far away from the city. Sikandrabad is well connected by roads and rails. Dankaur is the nearest railway station(6 km away) that serves Sikandrabad. Dadri, Gulaothi, Khurja, Jhajjar, Dankaur, Noida etc. are the other towns that have the direct road connectivity with the city.6 km far from greater noida.

History

Sikandrabad is a historical city which was built by Sikandar Lodhi in around 1498. Chishti and some other old monuments in the area can be seen. As of 2001[update] India census[1], Sikandrabad had a population of 69,902. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sikandrabad has an average literacy rate of 50%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 58%, and female literacy is 49%. In Sikandrabad, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. The current polulation of Sikandrabad is something about 2 lacs. It has a municipal board to govern the city. Sikandrabad is a Tehsil and has a majistrate court to maintain its law and order. The city has three post graduates colleges and a large number of other colleges and schools to make the population litrate. Bansal, Parvati, Om Palace, Ganga Maa are the name of cimenas to entertain the localites.

Industries

The city is famous for the milk production, cold storage and pipe factories. Sikandrabad is a big industrial area developed by UPSIDC. It has a large number of national and multinational companies working here successfully.
