Shulin Station (Chinese: 樹林車站; pinyin: Shùlín Chēzhàn) is a station on the Taiwan Railway Administration Western Line located in Shulin District, New Taipei City, Taiwan.
Overview
The station has two island platforms and a side platform. The side platform opened on May 3, 2007, but is only rarely used for terminating trains. The cross station-type building allows passengers to buy tickets on the second floor with connections to platforms at ground level.
History
- August 25, 1901: Opened as "Shulin Dropping Station"
- June 1, 1902: Name changed to "Shulin Stopping Station"
- December 1940: Name changed to "Shulin Station"
- January 1, 1955: Designated as a 2nd level (2nd) station
- January 1, 1966: Designated as a 2nd level (1st) station
- July 1, 1985: Designated as a 1st level station
- July 26, 1994: The old station was demolished. The station was moved into a temporary structure.
- March 14, 1997: Shulin Yard begins operations. The Eastern Line terminus is shifted from Banqiao to Shulin.
- September 27, 1997: The new cross-station type building opens.
- May 3, 2007: The third platform opens.
- June 20, 2008: The Taipei-Shulin segment begins trials with payment using the EasyCard.
- July 2009: A lunchbox counter opens on Platform 2.
- March 26, 2010: EasyCard usage officially begins.
