Shuchanda is a Bangladeshi movie actress born in Jessore. She started her career in the mid of 1960s. She is the eldest sister of Bobita and Chompa, two other legendary actresses in Dhallywood. To add, the recent famous Bangladeshi actor Riaz is her first cousin.
Early life
Shuchanda's real name is Kohinoor Akhter. In 1968, Shuchonda married Zahir Raihan, a film director of the country.
Film career
Shuchanda started her career in 1965. Suchanda debuted her film career by performing in movie “Kagojer Nouka,” which was directed by Subhash Dutta, in 1966. Subsequently, she starred in Hindu Mythology-based film "Behula" in 1967 opposite Abdur Razzak. In 1970, she acted in Jibon Theke Neya. During the 60s through 70s Suchanda was considered as one of the most successful actresses in the country.

As a film producer and director
In 1985 Suchanda debuted as a film producer and produced Teen Kanya from her production house "Suchanda Cholochitra." It has been said that Suchanda’s father had a dream to watch her three daughters together in the screen at a time. His dream became true in movie Teen Kanya. That movie was made under the banner of "Suchanda Cholochitra." Unfortunately before release of the film Suchanda's father passed away. The movie was released in 1985.Teen Kanya was a smash hit film of the year. In 1995 Suchanda introduced her son Topu Raihan in her film Prem Preeti. The film was also a big hit. Later Suchanda ventured as a director and directed Hajar Bochor Dhore, an adaptation of a novel of the same title by Zahir Raihan. The film brought Suchanda National Awards for Best Film in 2005.
