Shishtavec (Albanian) is a village of Kukës District, northeastern Albania, and house of the municipality with the same name.[1]
The village consists of around 300 households with over 1,800 inhabitants of Gorani ethnicity. The area is part of the wider Gora region, most of it lies in the other side of the border (today Kosovo).
The Gorani population in Albania affiliates itself mostly with the Albanians, unlike the rest of Gorani in Kosovo or Macedonia. There are recent attempts to include them as part of own minority groups, respectively from Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, and Macedonia as well.
Shishtavec is well known in Albania as the area which cultivates and produces the best potatoes.
