Shiraz was a South African group from the 1980s best known for their song "Fighting For Our Lives".
History
Shiraz was a mostly studio outfit that was the brainchild of producers Paul Crossley and Terry Owen. The singer of the band was Marshall Harmse, who currently works for Mathambo Productions, and who was involved with South Africa’s official presentation video for the winning 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer bid. The song "Fighting For Our Lives" addressed the HIV/Aids pandemic that was starting to become a widespread disease during 1984 when the song was released. In 1987, People Like Us covered the Shiraz song "Fighting For Our Lives".
