Shin-Zushi Station (新逗子駅 Shin-Zushi-eki) is a railway station operated by Keikyū Zushi Line located in Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the southern terminus of the Zushi Line, and is located 5.9 rail kilometers from the Kanazawa Hakkei junction, and 46.8 kilometers from the opposing northern terminus at Shinagawa Station.
History
Shin-Zushi Station opened on April 1, 1930 as a station on the Shōnan Electric Railway, the predecessor to the current Keihin Electric Express Railway. Initially named Shōnan-Zushi Station (湘南逗子駅 Shōnan-Zushi-eki), the first station was located 200 meters towards Kanagawa Hakkei than the present station. The line was extended another 400 meters in 1931, and a new terminal station, Shōnan-Zushi Station Hayama-Exit (湘南逗子駅葉山口 Shōnan-Zushi-eki Hayama-guchi), with the former station renamed as Shōnan-Zushi Station Numama-Exit (湘南逗子駅沼間口 Shōnan-Zushi-eki Numama-guchi). In 1942, the Shōnan Electric Railway became part of the Tokyu Corporation, and Shōnan-Zushi Station Hayama-Exit was closed. In 1948, the Keihin Electric Railway spun out from the Tokyu Corporation, and the station renamed Zushi-Kaigan Station (逗子海岸駅 Zushi-Kaigan-eki), with the former Shōnan-Zushi Station Numama-Exit reopening as Keihin Zushi Station (京浜逗子駅 Keihin-Zushi-eki). On March 2, 1985, both stations were replaced by a new station located approximately in between, called Shin-Zushi Station. A new station building was completed in March 1991.
