Nur Shahila binti Amir Amzah (born August 13, 1990) or popularly known by her commercial name Shila Amzah, is a Malaysian singer, songwriter, musician, entertainer[1] and actress. The daughter of famous 1980s era Malaysian singer Amir Amzah or knownly as ND Lala, she was the runner-up of the second season of One in a Million in 2007[2][3][4] and the winner of Asia New Singer Competition in 2008. In 2012, she became the champion of the inaugural season of the Chinese reality competition, Asian Wave. She has been accoladed as Asia's Sweetheart.[5][6][7][8]She has been also acknowledged as one of the YouTube personalities, having more people watch her singing videos when playing acoustic guitar with creative tone on her YouTube's channel.[9]

Early Life

Shila Amzah admitted in the beginning of her involvement in the entertainment field that she was unable to deal with the camera. "The lowest level of confidence previously when I was confronted with a camera, I did not know how to use it to communicate with the audience, and when to start the show."

Shila Amzah made her appearance at the age of nine to ten years old when her father struggled to produce her recordings. At the time, no recording company wanted to take children to become recording artists. They did not want to take the risk, so her father came out with his own pocket money to produce the first album of Shila Amzah. Luckily, this slowly opened up the eyes of recording company owner and it gave an opportunity for Shila Amzah to sign on a contract with EMI.

In the year 2000, Shila Amzah first album launched in front of Tun Dr. Siti Asmah. This was a children album. Yang Teristimewa (The Most Special) song was officially released. In the album, Shila Amzah also wrote a song. When the contract with EMI was up, Shila Amzah joined One in a Million, and signed a contract with Monkey Bone for teenagers album in 2009. Thus, the result was the album Bebaskan (Be Free).

At the end of 2010, Shila was courted by producer Kevin Chin to record the song in collaboration for 3 Suara (3 Voices). Since then, Shila Amzah has produced singles Patah Seribu (A Thousand Broken) (Shila Amzah's own creation entirely). The songs were hits in Malaysia and often played by Malaysian's radio station. The Patah Seribu (A Thousand Broken) also had once dominated Songs Chart's top radio station in Malaysia Era FM that has been recognized as Malaysia's First Radio Station. Only later then, the 3 Suara (3 Voices) album is done.
