SherWeb, Inc. is an hosted service provider based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The company also has an office in Montreal. SherWeb operates in the cloud computing industry and has been in business since 1998.[1]

Business model

SherWeb offers hosted email and collaboration solutions built on Microsoft products and technologies, such as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft Lync Server, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM.[2]

The company also provides hosting services, including Web hosting, POP3, streaming, SSL certificates, FTP, and domain name purchase and registration services.[1]

SherWeb also operates a partner program for MSPs, VARs, and IT consultants, who work under one of three categories: white-label reseller, co-branded distributor, or advisor.[3]

SherWeb provides services to customers and partners in both French and English.[4]

History

SherWeb was founded by brothers Peter and Matthew Cassar in 1998.

In early 2005, SherWeb teamed with Microsoft to expand its offering to include hosted email and collaboration capabilities.[5]

In 2011, SherWeb ranked No.16 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 list in Canada, and No. 77 for its North America’s Fast 500, with revenue growth of 1132 per cent over five years.[6] In 2012, SherWeb ranked 109th on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500.[7]

In January 2012, SherWeb launched SkyNox an automatic online backup and recovery solution for businesses looking for an alternative or complement to physical in-house backups.[8]

In early 2012, SherWeb joined the Microsoft Technology Adoption Program (TAP), which is designed to provide a consistent experience for Microsoft partners in obtaining real world customer feedback on Microsoft pre-release products.[9]

In October 2012, SherWeb was the first hosting provider worldwide to launch Hosted Exchange 2013. This claim was initially disputed by competing hosting provider Intermedia.[10]

In May 2013, SherWeb won Microsoft’s Hosting Partner of the Year Award.[11]

Acquisitions

SherWeb acquired DNAmail from Ikano in April 2011.[12] Then, on November 4 2013, SherWeb announced the acquisition of Thoughtbus, a privately held brand of Nomia Inc.[13]
