Sherwan is a Union council of Abbottabad District in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan,[1] located 35 km west of Abbottabad.
The population of Sherwan Town is over 25000.[citation needed] The local language is Hindko while Urdu is also understood and spoken by local people.[citation needed] The main tribes of Sherwan are Tanolis (Alishal,Labial, Sarganal and Sadial), Awans (Marjan or Kutab Shahi), Syed and Mughals. Sherwan is divided into two main parts, Sherwan Khurd and Sherwan Kalan. Linked villages to sherwan khurd are mohalla fareedabad ,kohali, etc...
This village has good educational skills as compared to the near by villages. There is a government college. Sherwan Post Graduate College .| And Government Schools

Turk rule
Sherwan was the capital of lower Tanawal under Turks.[citation needed] The last Turkish Wali (Governor) was Sutan Qayasuddin during the 3rd quarter of 18th century.[citation needed] After the fall of Pakhli Sarkar, the Tanawal Governorship also weekend and Raja Habib Khan the son of Sultan Qayasuddin could not sustain the successive attackes from Tanolis and retreated towards Bahali village.[citation needed]
Sikh rule
Sikh came to Hazara in 1818 and retained Sherwan as their capital. The Sherwan was an important city at that time and Abbottabad was non-existent.Sherwan is mineral place of pakistan like soft stone black stone.
Economy
Locals grow seasonal crops such as maize and wheat. The area has plenty of water and soil rich with nutrients, allowing producers to grow cherries, oranges, apples, plums and apricots. A large number of people are also engaged in soap stone mining.[citation needed]
