"Sherlock" (Korean title: Sherlock•셜록 (Clue + Note)) (Japanese title: シャーロック) is a song performed in Korean and later Japanese by South Korean boy band Shinee. The song was written by Rocky Morris, Thomas Eriksen, Thomas Troelsen, Rufio Sandilands and the lyrics by Jo Yoon Gyung.[1]

Korean version

The Korean version of the song is the lead single from the group's fourth EP, Sherlock, released in 2012. It is a hybrid remix and the dance is choreographed by Tony Testa. [2] The song was released as a digital single on March 19, 2012, two days after the South Korean release of the album.[3]

Charts performance

The song was an instant success in South Korea, topping the Gaon Single Chart for 2 consecutive weeks. "Sherlock" was downloaded over 1.5 million times. Sherlock placed 5th on Korea's broadcast play count ranking for 2012 with a total of 623 plays. The ranking takes into account the broadcasts aired from January to December 15th, 2012. [4] Shinee also gained a lot of attention in global music charts, such as in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and France, and achieved 8th place on the iTunes Top Albums chart. They also reached 1st position on the Japanese, 6th on the Swedish, 9th on the Canadian, and 10th on the Mexican iTunes Chart.[5]
