Sheikh Waqas Akram (Urdu: شیخ وقاص اکرم; born 26 August 1976) is a Pakistani politician and a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan[1] from Jhang.[2] He successfully stood for election two times in constituency no. NA-89 Jhang-IV. He was the Minister of State for Labour and Manpower.[3]

Education

He holds a degree from Central Queensland University in Masters information systems management year 2002. He did his bachelors from Government College Lahore in History and Journalism. His matriculation was from Abbottabad public School. He remained the minister Education . He is the one to organise Malala Fund Event in Paris with help of UNESCO. He also did graduate diploma in management from Griffith Australia.

Political career

He was voted in with the highest number of votes cast[4] in NA-89 from the party PML- Q. Previously, he had been Parliamentary Secretary of economic Affairs division, also remained Chairman standing committee on Petroleium and natural resources and a senior vice President of PML-Q. As of 2011 he was Member of National Assembly of Pakistan and Minister of State for Labour and Manpower.he was the Federal minister of Education in Zardari govt as a coalition partner of the govt. He could not take part in 2013 general elections because returning officer rejected his nomination papers based on a letter sent by HEC, he challenged his rejection ina higher court Tribunal and after ten days High court bench Multan which was dealing with jhang area allowed Mr. Akram to contest election by suspending the letter written by HEC terming this letter dubious.He decided not to contest elections and his father took part in Elections on his seat and won the seat from Sipahe Sahaba Pakistan. According to agencies he is still the biggest force behind his group in Jhang and the only man standing against SSP and LJ. He is one of the promonent leaders of PML (N)>[citation needed]. [5]
