Sheldon Haley (born December 18, 1972), better known as Shae or Shade, is an American musician. He is a member of the funk rock band, N*E*R*D, who often contributes backup vocals, while Pharrell carries lead duties, and Chad Hugo supplies the production. His role in the band is often questioned, but in a recent interview, Pharrell stated that Shay is the root of the band. Pharrell also stated that Shay keeps everyone grounded and together.[1]

Personal life

Haley appears to keep away from the spotlight, compared to his band mates, Williams, and, to a lesser extent, Hugo, who are both members of the production duo The Neptunes. During an interview by The Source Magazine, Haley stated that this is all intentional as he does not wish to pay the price of fame, such as being mobbed by masses of fans or having to hire a bodyguard.

In November 2010 he married Jackie Garcia, the girlfriend of slain NFL Safety Sean Taylor[2][3][4] [5][6] and niece of actor Andy Garcia.
