Sharhorod

Sharhorod (Ukrainian: Шаргород; Russian: Шаргород, Polish: Szarogród) is a city in Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine. It is located at 48°44′8″N 28°5′4″E / 48.73556°N 28.08444°ECoordinates: 48°44′8″N 28°5′4″E / 48.73556°N 28.08444°E.
It was founded in 1579 by Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth chancellor and hetman, Jan Zamoyski. It was located very close to the border with the Ottoman Empire.
