Shannon Rebecca Saunders (born July 4, 1994) is an English singer songwriter whose success has come from a large online following, which includes YouTube and Twitter. She is now working on her own material with an independent EP set for release in 2013.
Singing career
Early career
Shannon Saunders started a YouTube channel in 2009 posting covers of songs by many artists, as well as her own originals. As of October 19, 2012 she has over 17,000 subscribers and over 3.1million total upload views.[1]
2010: My Camp Rock 2
As well as performing locally in 2010, Shannon's YouTube channel notoriety meant she was approached to audition for the Disney Channel UK talent contest My Camp Rock 2. She won the competition and as a result her song “I See The Light” was featured on the Tangled soundtrack.
Currently
Shannon Saunders' YouTube following quickly gained the attention of Kwame Kwaten from ATC Management who soon had her working with producer Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran). Jake and Shannon set about writing songs for her forthcoming EP. He then invited her to perform at his live night Nobu Unplugged on 24 June 2012. Shannon’s own independent Lovejoy Records is set to release her debut EP in 2013.
Her first single "Heart Of Blue" was released on iTunes on 14 January 2013, following the high demand from her homemade music video, which went viral on the Sunday before, and received over 30,000 views in less than four days. As of November 2013, the song has had over 500,000 views.
