ShakeAway is a chain of Milkshake bars based in the UK. Its first shop was opened in 1999. The company sells milkshakes made of ice cream, milk and a flavour chosen by the customer. Products made by Nestle, Cadbury's, Mars and McVitie's amongst others are used as the additional flavours. During the summer of 2007 ShakeAway introduced the idea of adding "additude" to its milkshakes, this is where a customer can choose to add Protein, Muscle Builder, "Energy", Malt, Bran or Wheatgerm. The first bar to open was on Post Office Road, Bournemouth, quickly followed by further bars in Southampton, Brighton and Bath. Since then the chain has expanded to include bars in Cardiff, Swindon, Watford, Reading, Fareham, Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Plymouth, Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge, Oxford, Ipswich, Telford Shopping Centre, Scarborough, Hastings and many more. ShakeAway has also opened stores abroad in Bahrain, Saudi, with stores coming soon in Mexico, California, Georgia, Pakistan, Oman, Dubai, qatar, New York, India, Abu Dahbi, and Malaysia along with the first university franchise in Bath and a shared site in Croydon with Subway that have already opened with excellent results.[1] The company intend on franchising their brand in the future to further its development.[2]

Shakeaway have a large range of dairy-free milkshakes suitable for vegans and lactose intolerant people, using soya milk instead of cow's milk.[3] This makes Shakeaway the UK's largest supplier of vegan milkshakes.[citation needed]

Administration

SPN Acquisitions, a new company formed on 21 February, has bought the profitable assets of the old Shakeaway company including the trading name and associated intellectual property. The rescue package was put together by SP capital Investments which is not connected to the old shakeaway company. Since the acquisition the company has presented a new menu including new healthy shakes and a new uk and international store design.
