Shōgitai

The Shōgitai (彰義隊, lit. "League to Demonstrate Righteousness") was an elite corps of the Shogunate during the Bakumatsu period in Japan. The Shōgitai took a large part in the battles of the Boshin war, especially at the Battle of Toba-Fushimi, and the Battle of Ueno, where they were nearly exterminated.[1][2]
